Man: Skulls

Human Masculinized Skull

Homo sapiens
Human Masculinized Female Skull
This atypical (outlier) female skull provides a mixture of sexual traits and appears to be an example of age-related masculinization. The forehead has two prominences (masculine); the mastoid processes are large (masculine) ; the chin is pointed, not squared (feminine); the gonial angle is flared (masculine); the nuchal lines are clearly defined (masculine). The individual was known to have been a 68 or 69-year-old female upon death. (The full case is discussed in Hard Evidence, Case Studies in Forensic Anthropology by D. W. Steadman, ed., 2003.) 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw). 7 ½" L x 5 ½" W x 7 ½" H 18.7L x 13.4W x 18.5H (cm)
