Syphilis is a bacterial infectious disease which has a venereal mode of transmission. As seen here, tertiary syphilis results in numerous lesions on the skull vault. Presentation of caries sicca on the parietal bones and occipital can be seen when the person is severely affected and in this case, there is advanced sclerotic healing. Syphilitic lesions often affect the outer table of the skull, leaving the inner table spared.
