Bird Skin Cleaner
Special stainless steel tweezers for cleaning bird skins.
Application
These tweezers are ideal for clean scratching and plucking the skin on the flesh side, especially between the quills. This is an efficient and hygienic option for work that you otherwise like to do with your thumbnail. The slightly offset tip of the Bird-Skin-Cleaner No. 1 makes this tool ideal for scratching (both open and closed) as well as plucking. This makes the tweezers suitable for cleaning larger areas as well as thoroughly cleaning e.g. the tail feather quills. BirdSkinCleaner No. 2 is slightly larger and wider and has no offset tip. This is especially suitable for coarser work on larger bird skins and for cleaning the quills of tail and wing feathers.
Furthermore, these tweezers are very helpful when cleaning the skulls and the leg and wing bones in bird taxidermy.
These tweezers have been developed by colleague Ralf Krökel and have already been demonstrated at taxidermist conferences.
