Shingleback Lizard (Life Cast)
The shingleback lizard (also known as stumpy tail lizard, bobtail, pinecone lizard and sleepy lizard) is among the largest of the Australian skinks. The tail, which resembles the head, stores fat and can detach to escape predation. Shinglebacks range throughout the drier parts of Southern Australia. Studies have shown monogamous behavior, unusual in reptiles. Our Bone Clones® shingleback life cast captures the knobby texture of scales, and is painted to match the subtle coloration of the animal.
