White Rhino Horn, pair, lg and small
Ceratotherium simum
White Rhinoceros Horn Pair
The white rhino has an impressive pair of horns, the larger one sometimes reaching lengths of 5 feet. Of the five remaining species of rhinoceros alive today, the horns of the white rhino are the largest. The horns are used to dig, guide young offspring and impress potential mates. Unfortunately, the White Rhino is endangered today largely because of the demand for its horns, which are used for medicinal and ornamental purposes. See skull: BC-058.
