Platypus skeleton, articulated
Ornithorhynchus anatinus
Duck-Billed Platypus Skeleton, Articulated
Native to eastern Australia and Tasmania, the platypus is very primitive, almost reptilian like. It shares several characteristics with reptiles: eggs that hatch outside the mother, the structure of the eye and the pectoral girdle, and the presence of a cloaca. Mammalian traits include fur, a four-chambered heart, single bone in jaws, and nursing capacity. Adult males are equipped with a venom delivering spur found on its hind legs. Custom mounting available for all skeletons. Please inquire.
For additional stability, two plastic supports are included with the articulated skeleton. Individual bones or sections are also available. Please inquire.
