Harpy Eagle Skeleton, Disarticulated
This magnificent female harpy eagle was shot by poachers in her native habitat. She initially survived her devastating wounds and despite prolonged and intensive efforts to save her, she succumbed to the resulting long-standing infection a few years later. Her skeleton was prepared and meticulously molded and cast by the talented staff here at Bone Clones for use as a conservation and educational tool in Panama, where harpies are a national symbol. The feathers used in the cast of Bone Clones® Harpy Eagle are not from harpies. Alternate feathers have been used to simulate the color and length of the original feathers.
