Transponder
For the clear marking of animal preparations.
The transponder technology, which is also used in veterinary medicine, e.g. for the unique identification of dogs, is also ideally suited for marking taxidermy mounts. The "chip" with a length of 13 mm and a diameter of 2.2 mm is incorporated into the taxidermy mount (or inserted with a special syringe in the case of existing taxidermy mounts). The code of the taxidermy mount can be read with a reader. Thus, taxidermy mounts can be identified unambiguously and at any time, which is particularly important in the case of protected species or in the case of cross-border traffic/exchange. In this way, every taxidermist can help to ensure that no misuse is made of the taxidermy mounts he produces (species protection!), and he can document to the species protection authority and the official body issuing permits that he is working seriously.
The transponders are according to ISO standard 11784/11785.
How and where is the transponder inserted?
As with pets, the chip is inserted on the left side of the neck, with smaller taxidermy mounts on the left side of the head. This is done either directly during taxidermy or later by injecting with an injector.
