Alginate BHG1
Fast casting compound.
This alginate is a biological, powdered quick casting compound that is pH neutral and skin-friendly. This product was specially developed for impressions on the living human body. The compound forms the originals very precisely and in detail. This alginate is also ideal for taking casts of fish heads or for making death masks (coat hair with Peli-Separin).
Processing instructions
The castubg compound is mixed with water. It should be noted that the water is stirred into the compound and not vice versa. A more or less thin or thick mass is then formed when stirring in, depending on the amount of powder. Use only cold water for mixing. When mixing, use a rubber spatula or, even better, an electric kitchen mixer! Mix intensively for approx. 1 minute.
The setting time is between 9 and 11 min, depending on water temperature and mixing ratio.
Examples
Fish head: With a thin liquid mixing ratio, a fish head can be cast in a vessel in one pour.
Human body: The alginate is applied with a rubber spatula or a brush thick at least 1 cm thick on the skin and stabilized with a plaster support mold. Alginate will not adhere to material that has already set.
Directly after molding, the positive should be cast. Only materials that do not react with the moisture of the alginate can be used (plaster, ceramic casting compounds, Neukadur Multicast 20 etc.).
Mixing ratio
There is no prescribed mixing ratio, but it depends on what is to be moulded. However, the ratio 1 : 3 in parts by weight (1 part alginate : 3 parts water) should not be exceeded.
Thick mixture (puttyable): 1 part alginate : 2 to 2.5 parts water
Thin mixture (pourable): 1 : 3 = 1 part alginate : 3 parts water
