Auri Form

Produce artificial ear cartilage in top quality.
A product and a technique with which artificial ear cartilage of top quality, inexpensive and with little effort can be produced by oneself:

  • Thin, stable, but also very flexible ears that do not break.
  • Every individual feature can be catered for, as AURI-FORM is moulded directly on the original cartilage.
  • Structured surface, which allows the ear skin to adhere perfectly to the artificial cartilage (e.g. with DERMOCOLL).
  • Moisture resistant: artificial ear cartilages made of AURI-FORM do not lose their predetermined shape when in contact with moist skin and with DERMOCOLL.
  • Available in different plate thicknesses.
  • Edges can be sanded thin with sandpaper and little effort, resulting in wafer-thin ear edges without causing hair displacement at the ear edges during drying.

Brief description of technique for making artificial ear cartilage with AURI-FORM:
  • Carefully separate out ear cartilage. All tissue of the ear base remains on the ear cartilage. Take urgent care that the cartilage does not dry.
  • Water cartilage.
  • Fix cartilage in 3% formaldehyde solution for a few days.
  • Draw unwinding of cartilage. Allow enough material at the lower ear corner so that AURI-FORM overlaps a few cm after shaping and can be glued together there at the end.
  • Select plate in adapted thickness and cut out according to the unwinding sketch.
    • AURI-FORM No. 1: e.g. Fawn, small chamois, young fox, marten
    • AURI-FORM No. 2: e.g. chamois, fox, raccoon
    • AURI-FORM No. 3: e.g. deer, badger, div. antelopes
    • AURI-FORM No. 4: e.g. deer, larger antelope
    • AURI-FORM No. 5: e.g. wild boar, cape buffalo, water buffalo, bison

  • Provide vessel with water. Put on rubber gloves.
  • Dip the cut piece into the solvent methyl ethyl ketone until the sheet is as soft as a wet rag.
  • Shape the now soft AURI-FORM directly around the ear cartilage.
  • Once the distribution of AURI-FORM on the cartilage is correct, place the whole in the water bath provided.
  • After a few minutes, details can be modelled in a semi-hard state.
  • Allow modelled ear to harden in water bath.
  • Remove original cartilage from replica.
  • If small corrections are still necessary, individual areas can be softened with a brush and ethyl methyl ketone in spots and then corrected.
  • Definitive finishing with sandpaper in dry condition.
