Mandrill Baboon Skull

Mandrillus sphinx
Mandrill Baboon Skull, Male.
Mandrills are the world's largest simian species with adult males achieving weights of 120 pounds. Male mandrills are also arguably the most colorful of all primates. They have a bright red stripe running down the middle of their muzzle and winding around both nostrils, reddish-colored fur above both eyes, and a jaunty yellow beard. The sides of their muzzle are strongly ridged and colored a bright blue. Their hairless rump ranges from a bright blue to purple. A male mandrill will assemble a harem of females over which he will maintain exclusive breeding rights. Male mandrills are also notable for their impressive 2 to 3 inch long canine teeth. They have the intimidating habit of yawning when threatened or upset in order to show their opponents their formidable weaponry.
