Warthog

Phacochoerus aethiopicus
Warthog Skull and Tusks.
This amazing warthog skull, which holds the world record for the largest warthog tusks, has an almost sculptural appearance. As the name suggests, Warthogs are members of the porcine or pig family and live on the open plains of Southern Africa. Its common name is inspired by the large warts on the male's head and face. These "warts" are actually cartilaginous bumps of tissue that protect the face and eyes from injury during fights with other male warthogs. Warthogs are mostly hairless except for a long bristly mane that runs along their dorsum.
2-part skull incl. tusks (separate cranium & jaw).
