Great Horned Owl
Bubo virginianus
Great Horned Owl Skull
The great horned owl is found throughout North, Central and South America. It is the heaviest of the owls and is about 2 feet long with tufts above its ears that resemble horns, hence the name. It is instantly recognized and most familiar for its ability to swivel its head a full 180 degrees. We gratefully acknowledge and thank the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Vertebrate Zoology section for lending us this fine specimen from their extensive collection. A portion of the sales goes to them to continue their research. 1-part skull (jaw glued to cranium).
