Man: Skulls

This is an excellent example of an African American female skull. Features suggestive of African-American ancestry are the moderate alveolar prognathism, flat nasal region (including the nasal root), broad nasal aperture, retreating zygoma, somewhat truncated nasal spine, and retreating forehead. Although African-American nasal fossae are typically known for their absence of a nasal sill, and the existence of a nasal gutter, this particular individual lacked those features (a finding in keeping with the fact that human morphology exists across a spectrum, and one individual rarely demonstrates features of only one particular category of race or sex). 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
