Human Female Scaphocephalic Skull
This pathology skull provides an excellent example of a condition in which the skull is abnormally long and narrow as a result of premature closure of the sagittal suture. This is a very complex specimen; as a consequence of scaphocephaly, assessment of ancestral heritage, sex and age are difficult. There are mixed features of ancestral heritage with a slight preponderance towards the Asian/African spectrum. Given these features, more likely than not, this individual was a female. 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
