This chimpanzee infant skull is from an individual with an age of 11 to 12 months. The mother is the primary caregiver of the infant. In the infant's first year of life, it is almost always in contact with its mother, dependent on her for safety, food, warmth and instruction. The infant is weaned between the ages of four and six. Female chimpanzees give birth for the first time between the ages of 13 and 14 (the lifespan in the wild is 40-50 years). 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw). 4 ½" L x 3 ½" W x 3 ½" H 11.8L x 8.9W x 8.7H (cm)
