Homo neanderthalensis Skull - Sawyer-Maley Reconstruction
50,000 YA. Homo neanderthalensis skull available exclusively from Bone Clones®, this Neanderthal skull reconstruction was reconstructed by Anthropologist Gary J. Sawyer, of the American Museum of Natural History and Anthropologist Blaine C. Maley and was featured in the AMNH January, 2003 exhibit "The First Europeans: Treasures From The Hills Of Atapuerca." The reconstruction of the skull and jaw are primarily from La Ferrassie with additional transplanted elements from La Chapelle-aux-Saints, Saccopastore 1, Shanidar 5 and Spy 1. For more information, read below. Also available is a complete reconstructed skeleton. See SC-019-A and SC-019-D. The Bone Clones® Hominid line is composed of discoveries from anatomically modern humans, archaic humans, early Homo, early hominins, and other hominids. The majority of the casts in this line have been recreated by our team of anatomical sculptors. Some are reconstructions made by anthropology professionals using fragmentary elements from original discoveries and extrapolating the missing parts from those (i.e. Neanderthal skeleton). 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
