Human: Phylogeny

A. afarensis Lucy 1/2 Pelvis, Sacrum

Australopithecus afarensis
Australopithecus afarensis, "Lucy" Innominate and Sacrum
An innominate and sacrum set from the Australopithecus afarensis A.L. 288-1 skeleton known as "Lucy". Discovered by Donald Johanson in 1974 in Ethiopia, "Lucy", at 3.2 million years old, has been considered the first human ancestor. This is now being challenged by the discovery of Kenyanthropus, described in 2001 by Leakey.

The complete Bone Clones® replica of Lucy, as well as individual bones and sets are also available. Please also check out our other Primate Postcranial Parts, Skeletons and Fossil Hominds.
