Found primarily in the Great Plains region of the United States, the American badger mainly feeds on small mammals such as prairie dogs and other ground squirrels. Unlike other carnivores that stalk their prey on open ground, the badger catches the majority of its food by using its impressive claws to tunnel, with amazing speed, after ground dwelling rodents.
