Short faced Bear- Femur

Arctodus simus
Short-faced Bear Femur
This femur is from a short-faced bear that was about 12 feet tall. See the entire skeleton (SC-114-A). This specimen was found in Alaska and is thought to have died about 28,000 years ago. The species became extinct around 11,000 years ago. The short-faced bear is considered to have been the largest predatory terrestrial mammal.
