The nests of the great blue heron are often built in tall trees. The eggs in the clutch size of 2-6 are incubated by both parents for about a month. Although these herons are more than 4 feet tall and have a wingspan of 6-7 feet, they weigh only about 5-6 pounds. They spear fish, small aquatic animals, and insects with their long, pointy bills.

Each egg is hand painted with permanent dyes and sealed with a resistant coating that makes it ideal for handling, study, teaching, as well as for display.
