Aardvark Skull
Aardvarks are found in sub-Saharan Africa in areas of grassy plains, savanna, bushland and woodland. This nocturnal mammal has a stout body with a long head and snout that brings to mind the head of the anteater (they are not closely related). Their diet consists mainly of termites and ants, which they excavate by digging with their strong front legs and collect with their long, sticky tongues. Classified in the order of Tubulidnetata, they are a member of a clade called Afrotherian mammals, which also includes the hyrax, elephant, elephant shrew and manatee, among others.
