Common Marmoset Skull

Callithrix jacchus
Common Marmoset Skull
The common marmoset is found in Brazil. They measure between 7 and 7.5 inches and weigh between 8 and 9 ounces. Their coloring is a mixture of yellow, brown and gray with big white tufts sticking out of their ears. Their tail, which may be twice as long as their body, has alternating dark and light bands. Instead of the flat nails typical of other primates, the common marmoset has claw-like nails. They cling to trees with these claws and use their unusually large, chisel-shaped incisors to gnaw at the tree to get at the gum, sap and resin inside. Their diet also includes fruit, plant matter and insects. 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
